Palafrugell is a municipality located in the middle of the Costa Brava with around 23.000 habitants, making it the largest in the region of Baix Empordà. Located in a privileged environment, Palafrugell is composed its urban centre, the rural areas of Santa Margarida, Ermedàs and Llofriu, located on the slopes of the Les Gavarres massif, and by the coastal towns of Calella, Llafranc, Tamariu and Aigua Xelida. This established community is well connected with the other Catalan regions. Located in north-east Catalonia, it is only 12 kilometres from the port of Palamós, 48 km from the AP7, 50 km from Girona, 127 km from Barcelona and only 80 kilometres from France.

However, before the arrival of tourism Palafrugell had become one of the leading world capitals in the cork industry. This activity is still prevalent with many cutting-edge and innovative industries. However, the industrial sector today is very diversified.
Currently Palafrugell has 6 industrial parks where a large part of the town’s companies are concentrated. Of these 6, two are in full development, Brugueres II and Circumval·lació Nord-Les Brugueres, allowing new companies to set up in the best conditions.
